Kay Tunnicliff

Kay has recently moved into consultancy work having been an Assistant Headteacher at a large high achieving Academy for 11 years. She is a fully qualified Teacher, with a BEd in Physical Education (Anstey College of Physical Education) and an MA in Professional Studies in Education from Leicester University. She has extensive experience in Education having taught for 35 years as a Physical Education specialist. During this time she has been involved in both Faculty improvement, Safeguarding and Pastoral Care and Support. She believes that Education is fundamentally about the three R’s – Respect, Relationships and Responsibilities.

Having been the Senior Designated Person for Safeguarding and Child Protection as part of her SLT role, she is mindful of the critical importance of Safeguarding and Welfare, for both the students and the staff. She has led her school through the ‘Inclusion Quality Mark’ and has been an advocate of Anti-Bullying work within her County throughout her career. As Chair of the SWAN Behaviour and Attendance Partnership, she has worked collaboratively with fellow leadership teams, outside agencies and external companies within the County consortium of SWAN schools.

Kay has taught in four very different schools throughout her career and has worked across many responsibility posts. She is always keen to take on new concepts and was fortunate to be involved in the early work around ‘Learning to Learn’, which was developed by her then Head – Jackie Beere, indeed she taught the Key Stage 4 Course whilst at Campion School. Through the ‘Opening Minds’ work the school was at the forefront of this exciting new framework and was seen as a leading light in Education.
Kay has worked with experts on ‘Learning to Learn’ and the ‘Growth Mindset’ and has benefitted from being trained through her friend and colleague Jackie Beere. She is also an experienced practitioner in Teamwork, Behaviour Management, Pastoral Care and Safeguarding, Communication, Time Management and Support, for both Teaching and Support staff.
